ABOUT YUi
A homegrown brand, YUi – meaning ‘only one’ in Japanese
YUi was born in Dubai’s Design District in 2018 at a time when the restaurant was the only dedicated ramen house in the region. A true embodiment of Japan in terms of culinary tradition, service, and design, YUi aspires to offer high quality dishes and invites guests to delight in the deep flavors of Japanese cuisine.
YUi welcomes guests in a unique, unobtrusive environment designed by Japanese architects SCHEMATA, led by Jo Nagasaka.
Inspired by the traditional Ramen joints which still exist at many corner of every cities in Japan. Now here at Dubai, modernized and reintroduced by SCHEMATA. The vivid “Shuiro” red which is embodied in our interiors, is embedded deeply in the culture of Japan. From garment to shrines, “Shuiro” red is believed as the protector from evil and symbol of good luck. Uniquely simplistic interiors that are inspired by unorthodox core materials such as light gauge stud and plywood. Stepping away from all things superficial, YUi’s designer set out to create a raw space where the authenticity of materials could be showcased – ultimately delivering a relaxing place where diners can feel at ease and undistracted by surroundings while fully enjoying true Japanese flavours.
Our logo was designed by Japanese born artist & illustrator Face_oka. As he has been expanding his field of activities from apparel to ads & magazines before successfully holding solo exhibition in 2021. The logo of YUi showcase the joy around Ramen through Face_oka’s playful & pop-art style.
